sometimes i wonder about my job.
like yesterday, when i spent 2 hours sorting through a bucket of stick insect poo (not with a fine tooth comb, but with tweezers) collecting eggs.
but, you know, it was actually quite relaxing to do something so completely mentally undemanding. i just switched my brain off, switched the radio on, and felt the aromatherapeutic effects of eucalyptus oil that has passed through a stick insect's digestive system.
how's the serenity!

Your egg/turd sorting days are over! There's
an easier way.
That is, unless you prefer the smell...
arrgh, i'm torn!
the balance of pros and cons says: do it, or that's 2 hours of your life you'll never get back
...but it also says: well, you're stuck at work ANYWAY, why give up 2 hours of mental downtime while still being able to claim to be "working"?
ah-HA! i know - in order to leave work EARLY!
ps - welcome to my blogosphere:)
I really don't know about you bugkeepers. I prefer my science varmint-free, and, ooh, I even have a blog post to prove it.
Haven't seen one since then.
hmm.. trying out new method at the mo... varied success; half the stupid eggs insist on floating (obstinate things!) and a good quarter of the poo sinks.
damn!
but then we DO have about 300 of the varmints, eating us out of house and home... maybe thems good enough odds...
